A kitchen is where every trade in the house meets: plumbing, electrical, gas, ventilation, cabinetry, tile, flooring. The job goes well or badly depending on how much of it was decided before demo. I've been remodeling kitchens in Monmouth County since 2004, and the layout, the cabinets, and the schedule are settled before anyone picks up a hammer. Owner-led, no salespeople.
Based in Tinton Falls. Registered NJ home improvement contractor, HIC #13VH04440200. Five stars on Houzz.
Every kitchen horror story I've heard comes down to something decided mid-job: a cabinet that didn't fit, a range that couldn't vent, a floor that wasn't level. Those get settled on paper here, with you, before a single order goes in.
Every job here is a Monmouth County house. Same planning underneath, different kitchen on top.
I measure the room and we talk about how you cook. You get measured drawings, a written proposal that spells out the scope and the allowances, and a schedule. Cabinets, counters, and appliances are chosen and ordered before anything else happens.
Once the cabinets are in the garage, demo starts. Framing and any wall opening, plumbing and electrical rough-in, inspections, drywall, floors, cabinets, counters, backsplash, appliances. The work area is sealed and cleaned up every day, and you have a temporary kitchen the whole time.
Final inspection, a walkthrough with you, and a punch list we close together. You get the permit paperwork for your records, the cabinet and appliance manuals in one folder, and my number for anything that comes up later.
Working ranges for a kitchen done properly, with permits, by a registered contractor. Cabinets and counters are roughly half of any kitchen budget, so what you pick moves the number more than anything I do. I'll give you a firm written price after a site visit, not a guess over the phone.
| Project | Typical range | What moves the number |
|---|---|---|
| Same-footprint remodelNew cabinets, counters, backsplash, lighting, floor; plumbing stays put | $45,000 – $75,000 | Cabinet line, counter material, appliance package, whether the floor is replaced |
| Full remodel with layout changeIsland added, plumbing or gas moved, wall opened to the next room | $75,000 – $130,000 | Bearing wall and beam, moving the sink or range, electrical service upgrade |
| Large or custom kitchenCustom cabinetry, stone slabs, pro appliances, built-ins | $130,000+ | Custom cabinet shop, slab stone, 48-inch range and hood, integrated appliances |
A quote well under these ranges usually means stock cabinets, no permit, or a recirculating hood. Ask what's in the allowances before you compare numbers.
"Rob is a great person who is always professional and took the time to tell us our options in each situation. These were not easy jobs, but instead our house is more efficient and more like the sanctuary a home should be."
Victoria Z.Kitchen and bathroom"As first time home buyers, we bought a fixer upper that needed major renovations. Rob was there every step of the way, working with us to build our dream home. He always kept us informed and provided suggestions while keeping us within budget."
Brian M.Full home renovationThe shop is in Tinton Falls, so Colts Neck, Red Bank, Fair Haven, Little Silver, Shrewsbury, Oceanport, and Rumson are around the corner. The rest of the county is a short drive.
Plan on six to ten weeks on site for a full remodel, longer if walls move. The bigger number is lead time: cabinets run six to twelve weeks from order to delivery, and I don't start demo until they're in hand. So the calendar from first meeting to finished kitchen is usually four to five months, most of it waiting on materials with your old kitchen still working.
Yes. We set up a temporary kitchen somewhere else in the house, usually the dining room, with the fridge, microwave, and a utility sink if the plumbing allows. The work area is sealed off with dust barriers and cleaned up daily. Expect four to eight weeks of takeout and paper plates.
Yes. Moving plumbing, adding circuits, and venting a range hood all need permits and inspections in every Monmouth County town, and I handle them. The permit is also your record that the work was done to code when you sell.
Often, and it's the change that makes the biggest difference in a Monmouth County colonial or split. Whether the wall is bearing decides what kind of beam goes in, and an engineer specifies it. I'll tell you on the first visit whether it's realistic and roughly what it adds.
Both. You bring the look and how you cook. I bring the layout: where the range can vent, whether the island leaves room to open the dishwasher, where the outlets have to be. We draw it before anything is ordered, and I'll tell you when a choice will cause a problem before you commit to it.
Semi-custom lines for most kitchens, custom when the space or the look calls for it. I've used the same suppliers for years and I know which ones show up on time and which doors hold up. You can also bring your own cabinets and I'll install them, as long as we've checked the layout together first.
My crew, the same people job after job, with licensed plumbers and electricians for their trades. I plan the work, set the schedule, check it at every stage, and I'm the one you call. There's no salesperson and no project manager between you and the person responsible.
What you have, what drives you crazy about it, and what you'd like it to be. I reply within one business day and we set up a time for me to come measure.
